Everything Is Cuter When Its Bitesized

Wouldn’t agree that when anything about food is miniature it most certainly is cuter. For example a pie will serve on estimate of eight people. Now shrink the full-size pie down so that’s small enough for guests to easily pop into their mouths in one or two bites. The same can be done with a variety of dishes such as burgers and French fries, tacos and even macaroni and cheese. Serving a miniature portion of a dish can turn something like a simple grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup into a fancy appetizer.

Miniature foods allow guests to sample an array of dishes, without spoiling their appetites. The bite-sized foods also mean less mess for guests and hosts. It is easy to see why the miniature food trend has caught on so quickly. Just make sure not to forget to downsize your desserts too.

On-Location Catering Spotlight: The Alice Austen House

The Verrazano Bridge as seen from the Alice Ausen House

chez vous caterers specializes in on-location catering. This is the first in a series of posts highlighting some of the beautiful and interesting  locations that we’ve worked with.

Today we’re spotlighting Staten Island’s historic Alice Austen House.

The Alice Austen House, also known as Clear Comfort, was the home of noted photographer Alice Austen. The location is designated as a National Historic Landmark, which means that the structure represents an outstanding aspect of American history and culture. There are fewer than 2,500 properties designated National Historic Landmarks.

Along with it’s fascinating history, Clear Comfort also has a sprawling grounds and a truly unique view of New York City.

Though there might be locations in New York that are as breathtaking as the Alice Austen House, there is none more spectacular. The panoramic view, stretching from the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan to the Verrazano Bridge, is the ideal backdrop for events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, communions, or bar mitzvahs. We host intimate cocktail parties, festive barbeques, and extravagant dinner dances.  Furthermore, the Austen House is an ideal place for a meeting away from the office.

If you’re interested in having an event catered at The Alice Austen House in Staten Island, please contact us.

Downtown Staten Island Council Holiday Reception

Chez Vous played host to the The Downtown Staten Island Council this past Tuesday night at Edgewater Hall as the organization celebrated it’s best and brightest. Diane Savino served as the master of ceremonies as Downtown Staten Island’s finest came together to go over the issues. The DSIC’s 2009 annual meeting and holiday reception highlighted the resurgence of downtown Staten Island, issued lifetime achievement awards (to James P. Molinaro, Thomas A. Paulo, and Leticia Remauro) discussed the St. George Courthouse and Ferry Retail space amongst other topics.

“Within the span of an hour at the DSIC holiday party, I was able to connect with two potential new clients, planted the seeds for a new collaboration, met one of my new Victory Blvd neighbors, had a mini-meeting 3 months overdue & laughed with the man responsible for one of my favorite street photographs. ” said local photographer Mike Shane who utilized the event as a networking opportunity “Staten Island is already a small world; gatherings like this make it even smaller, in the best possible way!”
