For the past 10 years The Village Voice’s Siren Festival has provided the shores of Brooklyn it’s very own large scale outdoor music festival. With acts ranging from Spank Rock and The New York Dolls to The Shins and Built To Spill, Siren is considered one of the Big Boys on the festival circuit. Garnering write ups from Spin.com and Rolling Stone Magazine (click for photos of the festival) The Village Voice has put together an annual event that is both highly entertaining and highly credible in the eyes of music industry insiders.

Throughout the decade-long history of the festival, chez vous caterers have been backstage providing food to all of the show’s VIP attendees. Since the very first Sirenfest in 2001, we’ve been proud contributors to this excellent representation of music in Brooklyn. chez vous provides all of the band members lunch and dinner, including all of the musician’s special rider requests.

This past Sunday, the local film “17 To Midnight” took home the award for Best Local Film at the Staten Island Film Festival.

The casting for which was done at our own chez vous catering hall/Edgewater Hall.

As well, the folks at NY1 came by chez vous to film a profile on some of the crew involved including Director Nick Caccese, Producer Gabriella Loutfi, and Executive Producer Carlo Montagnino.

Melissa Mazzei & the staff of chez vous caterers teamed up with celebrity party planner David Tutera to cater Nicole & Dwayne’s Monte Carlo inspired wedding at the Prince George Ballroom in nyc.

What better way to celebrate a Monte Carlo themed wedding than by having chez vous a French catering company owed by an Italian family cater the wedding.

Well now the time has come for the show to air.

On June 18th, on the We network, you can finally catch the episode of My Fair Wedding (with celebrity party planner David Tutera) that features a collaboration with chez vous catering.

On April 30th, Shandelee Lake Inn was host to the 2010 Mike Levine Workshop on new media for the second year in a row, as well as being catered by chez vous.

The conference is a way for new journalists to learn and get a feel for the direction their field is taking.

From the differences between “saving print media” vs. “saving journalism” to the use and importance of using social networks as a key tool in the new media landscape to help brand yourself and remain a vital part of the grander media conversation in an ever changing and never stopping news cycle.

One of the prominent speakers at the event was Ass. Professor at Arizona State University and member of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism Leslie-Jean Thornton, Ph.D.

Prof. Thornton spoke of the importance of, specifically, Twitter and how It’s ability to provide snap citizen journalism will, and has already, become a key component in the new media landscape.

She also spoke of how an upstart company like Twitter began with a group of friends in 2007 and has now become one of the most-used websites on the net and sought after by investors for millions of dollars.

The overall tone of the event was that of blazing your own trail.

Guest speakers like Meg McGuire, Ellen Levine, Barbara Gref, Kristy Gray, Joan Garrett, Beth Brelje, Howard Frank, Gittel Evangelist, Doyle Murphy, Rachel Dickinson, Mary Ann Bragg, Cara Solomon, among others in the profession, echoed the sentiment that the news media is changing.

Not for the better or worse, but for new crops of journalists to figure out how to navigate it.

Each of the aforementioned ceremonies included one of Sherman Heller’s children and each wedding has been a pleasure to work on. We anticipate catering the ceremony for his daughter Brandy which will be the fourth and final wedding, completing the superfecta!

The ceremony for Russell & Heather was certainly one to write home about. Held on Oct 10th at the Fire Museum in New York City. With beautiful decor, great food and an impromptu dance number featuring songs ranging from “(I’ve had) The Time of My Life” to “Here comes the Hotstepper” Beautiful photos from the event, taken by Jennifer MacFarlane, can be found at Pictage.com.
